We’re thrilled to announce that UWIB will be transitioning to a single National Board structure moving forward. This shift is designed to better support the needs of our national community, foster stronger collaboration, and streamline our efforts as we continue to grow and empower women in business across the country.

Being part of the UWIB Board connects you with like-minded individuals who share your passion for supporting women in business. You’ll collaborate with a diverse group of leaders, exchanging ideas and insights that can inspire and elevate both your work and the organization’s mission.

 

What are the commitments?

  • Time Commitment: Board members are expected to dedicate at least 5 hours per week to fulfill their responsibilities, including attending meetings, supporting initiatives, and participating in events.

  • Active Participation and Leadership: Board members are required to actively engage in board meetings (attending at least 8 out of 12 annually) and provide strategic leadership, ensuring the organization’s mission is being effectively carried out at the national level.

  • Advocacy and Fundraising: Board members are expected to act as ambassadors for UWIB, promoting its mission and goals, and supporting fundraising efforts to sustain and grow the organization.

What are the Expectations?

As a member of the Board of Directors, your contributions are vital to the growth and success of the organization. To ensure we achieve our collective goals, the following expectations are outlined below. Our hope is that you will join the Board with the intention of serving for several years, as continuity is essential for achieving long-term goals.

  1. Active Participation: Attend all board meetings and actively engage in discussions. Consistent attendance is essential to decision-making and maintaining momentum on key initiatives.

  2. Strategic Leadership: Provide guidance and strategic oversight in alignment with the organization's mission and long-term objectives. Your role is to offer insights that help steer the organization toward its goals.

  3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow board members to foster a positive, constructive, and inclusive environment.

  4. Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for the organization by promoting its mission, vision, and goals. Actively participate in fundraising and advocacy efforts where appropriate.

  5. Support for Initiatives: Contribute to the development and implementation of organizational initiatives. This includes being available to provide advice, feedback, or support for events, programs, or special projects.

  6. Accountability: Take responsibility for your role in helping to achieve the board's goals. Be transparent and accountable in decision-making and actions.

  7. Ethical Conduct: Uphold the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and professionalism in all dealings related to the organization.

  8. Continuous Learning: Stay informed about the organization’s activities, industry trends, and board governance best practices to contribute meaningfully.

  9. Term Commitment: Fulfill the responsibilities of your role for the entire length of your term (one year unless otherwise discussed), contributing your skills, time, and energy to furthering the organization’s objectives. The typical role requires a 5 hours per week commitment.
